Recording

at Tankfield

Tankfield recording studio is co-located with Fallen Industries, the leading rehearsal room complex, located close to J2 and J3 of the M53. The studio is a 12 minute drive from the centre of Liverpool.

About the studio

The studio is owned by Michael Johnson, ex-Factory Records engineer and producer whose discography includes Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses, Soft Cell and Erasure. Michael learned his trade at Pink Floyd's Britannia Row studio, where he worked for five years, progressing from tape-op to house engineer to producer.

Tankfield features spacious recording and control rooms, with ceilings almost 4 metres high. The rooms have an airy feel and are ideal for recording acoustic or amplified instruments and voices. Drums record particularly well. The studio is on the ground floor and there is easy access straight in from the huge carpark.

Close by there is a large Sainsbury's, McDonald's, a sandwich bar and a corner shop.
